End of an Era for Spiderman ?

August 7th, 2007 by Al , Category : News

Amazing Spiderman 545

Looks like Marvel Comics is flexing it’s “marketing” muscle again. Today many comic news outlets including us here at WPD recieved the image above (the cover to Amazing Spider-Man #545) with only the words End of an Era.

Already the rumour mill is working at a feverish pace to figure out just what is going on. Are Peter and Mary Jane calling it quits ? Just whose hand is that in the picture ? Maybe Daredevil? I know Matt Murdock is Peter’s divorce attorney.

Ok bad joke.

Rob Liefeld and Image together again

July 17th, 2007 by Al , Category : News

Youngblood

Ok. Let me start off by saying I don’t know how the heck I missed this one.

Last Wednesday Image Comics and Rob Liefeld confirmed an internet rumour that they will be reuniting for the release of a hardcover collection of a “re-mastered, re-scripted, and re-imagined” version of the original Image launch title Youngblood.

DC to launch ZUDACOMICS.COM

July 10th, 2007 by Al , Category : News

ZudaComics

I generally don’t like the idea of big comic companies trying to muscle in on the webcomics world; but it seems that DC Comics is doing things the right way. They are offering webcomic creators a way to get noticed and maybe even score a contract with the comics giant itself.

Yesterday DC Comics announced Zudacomics.com, a new digital imprint being launched by DC in October which will publish webcomics featuring new characters and concepts by creators yet to be found. There is not much at the site right now just some basic info and a form to sign up for further updates about the site. One thing I found rather interesting is that they enlisted the help of IBM of all companies to help them with this project (talk about big bucks). Here is the official press release for the new webcomics venture.
