Manga Entertainment announced that it is co-producing a three episode OVA series called Strait Jacket. The annoucement was made at Anime Expo 2007 during Manga’s panel session. The series is described as a cross between “Leon the Professional, Blade Runner; but steampunk” and is based on a very popular “light” novel series written by Ichiro Sakaki and illustrated by You Fujishiro. The Strait Jacket anime will be directed by Shinji Ushiro from a screenplay by Sakaki, it is set to air in Japan next April. Manga Entertainment tentatively plans an American release for August 2008.
