I never read the book; yes, I’m the only one, but I think this helped me to truly enjoy this film. The film of course is The Da Vinci Code. Staring Tom Hanks as Professor Robert Langdon, a famed symbologist, who on what appeared to be a book tour in France ends up a murder suspect on a quest for the Holy Grail. When the body of the curator is found at the Louvre with symbols on his body, Professor Langdon is called to help. There he meets Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou), a police cryptologist. Together they follow the clues left behind by the curator that lead them to Da Vinci’s famed Mona Lisa. And from there starts the mouse hunt. They race from clue to clue, all the time being chased by the French police, a secret order of the church, and an albino Opus Dei monk, all who are trying to kill them.

The clues will lead them on a hunt for a piece of history that has been kept secret for over 2000 years, and if discovered will change what the world has believed about Christianity, as well as the life of Jesus Christ himself.

The film is at heart a murder mystery, a who-done-it, to the very end. But, it’s the way they get there, using real history as well as Da Vinci’s works that, for me, make the film. The final clue will lead them to the Holy Grail, but this is not the Grail as we know it. This is what has started all the controversy with this film. Now, we need to keep in mind that this is only a film; it is meant to entertain, maybe make you think a little, but it is not meant to be taken as fact, present for the soul purpose to shake up religion. At least, I did not get that interpretation from it.

The Da Vinci Code will make you think; maybe even question your faith.  Not to say it’s true, but what if it was?  If any of what this movie lays out about the life of Jesus was true, what would that do to religion in the world? Would it bring faith crashing down as the movie asks? So, go out and make your own decision, and remember, it’s called faith for a reason; it’s not fact, and faith should always be questioned.
